James P. Kostas, DMD
“People always ask me: when did you know you wanted to be a dentist? And to their amazement, I always respond: when I was in the first grade. From a very early age, I was intrigued by teeth. Two years later after having a harrowing experience in the dentist chair I made up my mind right then and there that I was going to be a dentist — a great dentist. None of my patients would ever have a bad experience sitting in my chair. I was only 8 years old at the time.”
Today his goals remain the same — to make his patients happy and to do a great job.
Originally from Burlington, Dr. Kostas has been practicing in his hometown for over 17 years. His patients enjoy his sense of humor and high level of professionalism. He loves challenges and is a perfectionist.
The depth of Dr. Kostas’ experience is strengthened by 3 disciplines, the sum of which allow him to offer his patients outstanding cosmetic and restorative dentistry:
- Artistry — Creativity and attention to detail provide his patients with first-rate cosmetic dentistry.
- Engineer — Precision and skill to craft products in house such as crowns further improving and facilitating the most modern techniques of restorative dentistry.
- Scientist — Dr. Kostas’ lifelong commitment to continuing education keep him up to date in his field with the latest advances in materials and methods to improve patient care.
Dr. Kostas’ grandparents taught him that you get what you give. So it is very important to him to take the time to listen and treat each and every patient with respect and dignity. His integrity and honesty coincide with doing what’s right for the patient.
A regular contributor to many local, national and international charitable organizations, Dr. Kostas is inspired by the quiet dignity he sees in the faces of the “children of Chernobyl.” For the last fifteen years, Dr. Kostas has provided free complete rehabilitative dental care to over thirty children of The Chernobyl Children’s Project. This organization, the Chernobyl Children Project USA, is the largest organization in the U.S. that provides medical treatment and respite care for children from the Chernobyl-affected areas of Belarus, Russia and Ukraine. Considered to be the worst man-made nuclear disaster in world history, the Chernobyl tragedy is the largest peacetime radiation catastrophe that has ever occurred on this planet.
In 1989, Dr. Kostas graduated from Tufts Dental School, magna cum laude and was #2 in his class. A leader in his field, in 1999 Dr. Kostas earned fellowship status in the Academy of General Dentistry and in 2009 he has earned fellowship status in the American Dental Implant Association.
Dr. Kostas is a member of the following societies and organizations:
- Omicron Kappa Upsilon - National Dental Honor Society
